Hey guys, where are the new DND questions located? I’m interested in what they are I see some folks are saying there is a Frame Relay one and I’d like to look at it. I got wreck by Frame Relay on my first attempt and barely failed ROUTE by 10ish pts without using any dumps because of those freaking questions. I got a lot of Frame Relay when I took the test and there wasn’t much in the Cert Guide or another textbook I used to study.

I am a bit confuse with ospf AS and process ID.
    are they the same?

    if I use
    Router# show ip ospf interface

is the AS number here is the process ID that we should use when configure ospf.

question 35 : what command u will use to check the process id for ospf?
sh run? sh ip ospf interface?

    thanks

@Chuks on Q183, I go for A,C. The topology is P2MP meaning there is a hub. So its more likely/better to configure static neighbor on the hub site and disable split horizon.

    April 11th, 2018

Hi @the_north, this is my take – maybe…
Q183 A. Use statically defined EIGRP neighbors on THE HUB SITE.
*the ‘neighbor’ command must be configured on the two neighboring routers, in this case both for Hub and spokes.

@bug. seems you are correct. its not only on the hub site but also on remote sites.

    Hello Guys,

As promised please find more insight into the preps and exam questions. Please take the useful bits and ignore the rest !

    Preparing for the Exam:

    Prep Time:
If this is your first time preparing for CCNP, then give yourself 6 months to a year to finish it (all the three papers).
For ROUTE you should be able to crack it in 3 months if you study CONSISTENTLY.
I did it in a week but I have loads of experience that helped me do it working on almost all of the topics except framerelay ! I studied hard for a week, almost 10 hours a day (mostly watching
the videos) and supplementing it with materials from Cisco’s learning materials. I used 477 just the day before the exam mostly to test my knowledge. On my first attempt, I got 37 questions wrong
mostly netflow and IPv6 related which helped me revise on those topics more.

    Exam Topics:
    https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/community/certifications/ccnp/route_v2/exam-topics

This gives you the percentage split of questions on each topics. If you do the math, you will know how many questions you can expect from each of the section and focus on secitons with more weightage
if you are short of time. Try the free version of the course, its very useful covering basics of EIGRP, OSPF, VPNs. It also includes lab exercises to practice.

    Study Material:
    https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/community/certifications/ccnp/route_v2/study-material.
Some of it you have to pay (I didn’t) but others are absolutely free.

I really liked the Frame Relay, PPPoE, DMVPN, GRE Tunnels materials, it was simple and explained to the point.

    Prep Materials:
I used Chris Bryant Videos for studying and revising for ROUTE, I’m use to his videos when I started from Train signal days if any of you remember it.
There are so many out there but I like Chris’s style, he explains the concepts very much aligned to what you will see on real networks, lots and lots of labbing !
I bought it from Udemy, got all the three for the money of just 15 USD. Please don’t ask me to share any videos, I won’t as its unfair to Chris.
Plus you also have a 30 day money back guarantee !

Please remember a certification will only get you to an interview, only your understanding and knowledge about the subject will get you the Job !
If you are serious, I urge you to read and practice.

@bug and @the_north C and D is the correct answer. Its not OSPF, its EIGRP ! Only OSPF needs neighbor statement at the Hub.

  20. Mark
    April 11th, 2018

to add my previous comment, In some instances where multicast packets can’t be forwarded, EIGRP does need neighbour statements to form relationship on both routers. But for Q183, C and D are the correct ones.

    April 11th, 2018

Hi @Mark. Congratz with your pass!
as for Q183-I am saying option A is wrong. It’s wrong because in all dynamic routing – there is no such thing as configuring “static neighbor” in ONE ROUTER ONLY like HUB router to form neighborship. NBMA or not it is always static neighbor/peers everywhere OR dynamic peers everywhere. (then again this is my personal knowledge)

  25. heya
    April 11th, 2018

hey guys q154 from 477, eigrp configuration, it asks what option should be same for all routers for authentication key roll over to work? should the answer be D) time ?? or am i mistaken? can somebody clarify please :) thanks

to answer the questions, you don’t need to type anything. Use some show commands and select the correct option.

  28. Mark
    April 11th, 2018

@bug, In OSPF NMBA networks, the neighbor statement is just needed only on the hub device. You don’t need it on spoke sites. Lab it up for yourself to see !

    Passed today 9/10

    D&D:
    serial configuration
    new AAA
    new DHCP

    LABS:
    eigrp stub
    ospf eval
    rip/eigrp passive interface

Every question was covered in the 300-101-UshallPass-602q-v173 vce simulation, new labs and D&D are correct, the questions are exactly the same (most of the correction of the 477 posted above are correct but is simpler to get the new vce).

Just one thing: be careful on the “passive interface” lab, the topology may be not be the one shown in the dump, you have to remember how protocols behaves.

    Hello Guys,

where can i found correct dump has correct answers ?
because I did the exam but I think the problem with answers in dumps Q

    like :-

Q : Which two statements about OSPF E1 routers are true ?
A- They use only the OSPF cost to the ASBR
B- They are preferred over interarea routers.
C- They use only the OSPF cost from redistribution.
D- They are preferred over E2 routers .
E- They use the OSPF cost from redistribution and the OSPF cost to the ASBR.
    Ans :

Q: Which two statements about NTP stratum are true? (choose two)

Correction to Incorrect Drag and Drops

    Question 263
IPSEC – An encryption protocol used to secure tunnels.
KEEPALIVE – A technology that prevents one side of the tunnel from going down while the other
    stays up.
mGRE – A technology that supports dynamic tunnel endpoint.
MSS – A configurable value that prevents an interface from sending packets that are too large for
    the tunnel.
Tunnel key – A clear text password that confirms the peer connection.

    Question 265
    LOOSE MODE
    – Supports default routes as a route reference
    – Requires the source address to be routable
    STRCIT MODE
    – Able to drop legitimate traffic
    – Permits only packets that are received on the same interface as the exit interface for the
    destination address

    Question 396
    IPV6 TRAFFIC FILTERING
    – It filters traffic at the interface level.
    – It supports tagged ACl

    IPV6 ACCESS CLASS
    – It requires the destination address for inbound traffic to be a local address.
    – It filters management traffic

    Question 397
    ROUTER
    – Passes logon information to the TACAS+ Server
    – Prompts the user for a username and password
    TACAS+ SERVER
    – Authenticates the user
    – Authorizes the user
    USER
    – Provides the access credentials
    – Attempts to access the routers

    Question 400
Excessive unicast flooding – condition caused by including a host port on STP
OUT OF ORDER PACKETS – potential result of disabling FIFO
TCP STARVATION – Potential effect of excessive UDP traffic on the link
ASSYMETRIC RORUTING – Cause of inconsistent traffic pattern
LATENCY – Condition in which packets require an excessive length of time to transverse a switch

  36. the_north
    April 11th, 2018

@Mark, for Q459, does this mean C is correct. I did the lab to test and it seems correct. only one neighbor went down when i tried to simulate it.

  37. chuks
    April 11th, 2018

@alex 422 isn’t B. I tried to lab it on Gns 3 before the day of my exam and I got an error message. I believe VRF is the correct answer because it will virtually separate the IP address and make it look distinct.

@shadi its been answered, look up at my answer Q453 with explanation.

@heya; we are talking about authentication, so passwords I.e key strings

@anonymous question 186 to me is structured incorrectly. I don’t see any correct answer, and how do we know there is no route back if we cant access R2 routing table. stupid question.
I saw it in the exam same diagram but a different question (can’t remember exactly what was asked but it was basic netflow)

@Vincw and Lukas. its true that debug messages can raise a CPU very high, but that’s doesn’t mean that debug messages aren’t logged on active devices.

if we log debug messages on a router with little to no configuration, we won’t have high CPU utilization. but we have activated debug messages on active console. I know its tricky but its up for debate why you think B isn’t right.
to me D is correct If we have a very very active router with loads of running protocols. I am thinking of it from a default level of a router.

  38. chuks
    April 11th, 2018

@north Question 459. is another crazy question from Cisco.
    they didn’t specify what protocol.
because passive interface behave differently for differently protocol…..For Rip it will prevent it from sending updates but it will receive. for both ospf and eigrp, it doesn’t send nor revive updates via the interface

also distribute list can help filter updates u don’t want to be sent out via an interface. You reference a group of networks either with an acl/prefix list although this works quite differently in ospf because in ospf they all need to have the same LSAs to form the SPF tree, so ospf works more on filtering by an area-area level than on interface level.

To me that’s another poorly constructed question.

Ok, here it is, I pass the exam but did not get a score, I had to log into my portal to see if I pass or fail.

However, my questions were from the 477.

I had one new variation in questions, no. 476. They asked for the results of show ip route for the routers in eigrp.

    The sims were:
    EIGRP Eva
    Eigrp Stub
    OSPF Eva, nothing changed.

My advice to still prepare using your material/syllabus since you don’t know when cisco will change the exam but the 477 with corrections is sufficient to pass.

    DND:
    Frame Relay
    ACL
    if authenticated, none, kr5…etc
    SVI, PVC, LMI,…etc
