    Passed CCNP:ROUTE last week with 8xx.
    Definitely review the “Most Popular Questions.” I had several from this section that I believe are NOT in the other topic areas on the right-side of this page.

    Lab sims and Evaluation sims are still relevant.

    Got a couple of questions that I hadn’t yet seen. One in particular had to do with DHCP behavior when you have an interface with a primary IP address and multiple secondary IP addresses. Not sure what the correct answer…The answers involved something like, “The interface will forward DHCP DISCOVER messages from primary IP and all secondary IP’s,” “The interface will forward DHCP DISCOVER messages from primary IP and only one secondary IP.” I don’t remember the other options, but I don’t think either were correct, but I could be wrong.
    Another question had a topology exactly like one of the questions from “Most Popular Questions: EIGRP,” where BR1 has configured as a stub. The difference was that the exam question asks what the route table on HQ-R1 should look like; you have 4 options to choose from. Two options do not have the link between BR1 and HQ-R2 in the routing table, nor the /32 of the loopbacks. One of the other two options does have the link between BR1 and HQ-R2 AND the /32 for the loopbacks…it’s hard to explain…the point is, I don’t believe that question is one this site, so this is a heads up. I’m not sure what the correct answer is since I have never actually implemented EIGRP real-world; we are mostly a switched environment with some really simple OSPFv3.

    I didn’t score as high as I had hoped, but I also didn’t get to prepare for this exam as much as I would’ve liked due to the time crunch of needing to still complete ROUTE and TSHOOT before 24 Feb. So, there were several questions from the practice test, (that I didn’t totally understand), that I didn’t get to research as much as I should have.

    NOTE: I’ll try to check back on this forum to answer any questions, but don’t hold your breath. If I don’t respond, I’m sorry but I’m moving on to TSHOOT.

    @AL
    The ABR sends per default a summary route into stub and totally stubby areas. But he do not send it in a nssa or totally nssa therefore you need an extra cmd to get the default route in such an area –> area nssa default-information originate

    NEW – DHCP Question
    1. A DHCP Relay behavior if there are secondary interfaces. Options were:
    a) broadcast DHCPDISCOVER only from primary address
    b) broadcast DHCPDISCOVER from primary and one of the secondary addresses
    c) broadcast DHCPDISCOVER from primary and all secondary addresses
    d) if DHCP server is not reachable via primary address, broadcast DHCPOFFER from secondary addresses

    You only need to configure helper addresses on the interface where the UDP broadcasts that you want to forward to the DHCP server are being received. You only need to configure the ip dhcp smart-relay command if you have secondary addresses on that interface and you want the router to step through each IP network when forwarding DHCP requests. If smart relay agent forwarding is not configured, all requests are forwarded using the primary IP address on the interface.
    If the ip dhcp smart-relay command is configured, the relay agent counts the number of times that the client retries sending a request to the DHCP server when there is no DHCPOFFER message from the DHCP server. After three retries, the relay agent sets the gateway address to the secondary address. If the DHCP server still does not respond after three more retries, then the next secondary address is used as the gateway address.
    This functionality is useful when the DHCP server cannot be configured to use secondary pools.

    I think the correct answer is A
    In the case there is something mentioned about the ip dhcp smart-relay feature then answer D is the correct one

    thanks MAD, found on the net:
    https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_4t/ip_addr/configuration/guide/htdhcpre.html

    Perform this task to configure smart relay agent forwarding.

    You only need to configure helper addresses on the interface where the UDP broadcasts that you want to forward to the DHCP server are being received, and you only need the ip dhcp smart-relay command configured if you have secondary addresses on that interface and you want the router to step through each IP network when forwarding DHCP requests. Without the smart relay agent configured, all requests are forwarded using the primary IP address on the interface.

    If the ip dhcp smart-relay command is configured, the relay agent counts the number of times the client retries sending a request to the DHCP server when there is no DHCPOFFER message from the DHCP server. After three retries, the relay agent sets the gateway address to the secondary address. If the DHCP server still does not respond after three more retries, then the next secondary address is used as the gateway address.

    This functionality is useful when the DHCP server cannot be configured to use secondary pools.

    @trom

    I had about 5-10 d&d. All were from this site, I believe. I got both serial d&d questions, just fyi.

    I did not study the composite quizzes. I feel like those can be very useful, especially if your brain has made some association between the specific topic area and the correct answer AND there are similar questions with a different answer…I definitely did the composite quizzes for switch as I had more time.

    @Ssay Don’t know if you’ll read this but I’d say just the MPQs and NUQs are not enough to pass. I had tried that along with D&Ds and Labs previously (back early december if I recall) and failed the test with a 705. It was close sure but not enough.
    But your mileage may very well vary. I also believe I didn’t take my time with questions, I was a bit stressed and sad at the questions, perhaps I could’ve passed that time.

    I had same DnD and Labs as Pacific1 has described above, few new questions however a lot of questions from tut MPQ NUQ-5 NUQ-6, highly recommend premium, really helps with the tutorials and explanations.

    watched videos, read up on the cert guide, it is important to understand what is asked on the question, just going through past questions and answers could have you trip up on few key changes there are similar questions with differing answers, read the questions properly.

    OCT PDF can be found by navigating on this tut site ROUTE FAQ on the menu on right hand side

    The drag and drops (4 or 5) and the LABs (OSPF Sim, EIGRP eval sim and IPv6_OSPF_virtual_link_Sim) are ALL included aswell

  49. Paco Pepe

    @IP_precendence, only for preparing the LABs, I would pay the premium account. In addition, with the premium account, you could prepare the MPQ for each particular topic (BGP, NTP, OSPF, etc.) and later, you can make the MPQ composite quizzes (which includes 50 randomly taken questions from the specific-topic questions above) and, the most important thing is that, at the NQ6, appears NEW questions from the last January examns that they dont appear in the free pdf…
    So, from my point of view, it is a great investment the premium account if you want to ensure (as much as possible) your success with the exam

    Thank you @Paco_Pepe, I want to become premium but I need a solution to have it. As I said before my country doesn’t let me to use Paypal services :(
